The Limmud.de Festival is a four-day event with more than 150 workshops on various themes. Every participants has the chance to propose a workshop, in German, English or Russian.
The event is organized by volunteers in their free time over many months, and is only possible thanks to the active cooperation of all participants. Every participant can be a volunteer – and every volunteer is for sure a participant, too. The Limmud.de Festival is not a conference, but a shared event in which everyone is a student and virtually everyone can also teach.
Schedule
The Festival starts on Thursday evening (May 09 2013) and lasts through Sunday afternoon (May 12 2013) – (four days and three nights)
Check-In is possible as of 1 PM on Thursday; The children’s program starts at 4 PM and the first workshops at 5 PM. On Sunday, the last workshops will conclude at around 5 PM.
Location
The Festival takes place in the EJB at Werbellinsee. The site offers several hundred beds and more than enough seminar rooms to accommodate a comprehensive program. EJB was originally a camp for Young Pioneers in Communist East Germany. After 1989 it was modernized and turned into a modern recreational site. It is located in the Schorfheide Nature Preserve on Werbellinsee Lake
April 30, 2013 – registration has closed.
Please note that there is no possibility given to be registered as a day guest on site.
All food served during the festival is kosher (Rabbi Yitzhak Ehrenberg, Berlin). A vegetarian option will be offered during meat meals.
All activities offered by Limmud will strictly respect Shabbat, in order to enable everybody to participate in workshops on Shabbat.
It is possible for participants themselves to organize Sabbath services. Limmud tries very hard to provide space for the diversity of Jewish religious life. Challa and wine will be provided. Please tell us by e-mail (programm@limmud.de) if you would like to organize a service.
There are three ways to reach the Limmud.de location:
1. Limmud Bus

Departures from Berlin main train station:
Return trip: Werbellinsee to Berlin main train station

The bus trip lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours (given unpredictable traffic conditions in the Berlin urban area). Please plan any train travel with the possibility of bus delays in mind. We recommend traveling via train from Berlin main station to Eberswalde main station!
2. Shuttle bus to and from the Eberswalde train station
Trains (Deutsche Bahn) head to Eberwsalde station practically evert hour. The journey lasts about half an hour.

The shuttle buses will travel on:
On Sunday, May 12 2013, shuttle buses will be running from the Limmud venue to the Eberswalde train station hourly, 3 PM-6 PM, scheduled to meet the outgoing train toward Berlin.
3. Driving to Limmud.de
It is possible to travel by car to Limmud. There are enough parking spaces. Please park only in the designated areas. For security reasons please note your license plate number in your registration form..
Participants will receive further information about travel to and from Limmud shortly before the festival.
Participants are lodged in the rooms at EJB Werbellinsee. There are rooms of various sizes and comfort levels.
The rooms with 1-3 beds have either their own bath or a bath that is shared with only one other room, apartment style (the sleeping quarters are not connected).
The buildings with 4-6 bed rooms are equipped with a shared bath in the hallway. These are modern bathrooms with separate stall showers.
The participant fee depends on the type of lodging you choose.
When registering, you can indicate with whom you wish to share a room. As long as rooms are available, we will be able to fulfill these wishes. Participants who do not indicate that there is a particular person with whom they wish to room will be housed with someone of the same gender and similar age group.
The rooms with 4 and 6 beds are separated by gender (unless the wish is expressed to room with specific individuals).
Special needs will be taken into consideration when apportioning rooms, regardless of the fee category.
EJB also has rooms that are handicapped friendly. If you have special needs that we should take into consideration, please let us know in your registration form or by contacting us at anmeldung@limmud.de.
As usual, we’re planning to set up an eruv in 2013 that will encompass the mess hall, seminar house and houses numbered 7-10. Given the lay of the land, we’re not able to include all buildings within the eruv. So please bring a “shabbat belt” for your key in case there are no more rooms available within the eruv when you register.
The fee covers all workshops, room and board, shuttle from Werbellinsee to Eberswalde train station and childcare (day passes do not include lodging).

Limmud.de is a nonprofit organization. The Festival is financed almost completely by donations. Every participant is subsidized, in the three-figure range.
Every little bit helps us to create the Festival. Of course, it is organized 100% by volunteers. But costs cannot be covered by volunteers. Please consider supporting, for example, the children’s program, the provision of wine and challah for kiddush, or participant fees.
We want as many people to be able to participate in Limmud as possible. Help us!
